Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology IDMT

The research topics of the institute focus on the development of new media technologies for professional markets as well as for the home entertainment sector. More than 50 employees and 70 students are working on several scientific projects and in different fields of research at the Fraunhofer IDMT, founded in 2004.

Foremost, the development of the revolutionary IOSONO Wave Field Synthesis by Fraunhofer IDMT makes it possible to design state-of-the-art sound reproduction systems. Other activities range from audio-metadata technologies to audio applications like medical audio technology or audio coding for special applications. Furthermore, the researchers create innovative business models for secure content distribution of virtual goods via the Internet and develop special applications for the field of learning and training.

The Fraunhofer Institute in Ilmenau realizes its innovative scientific results through applicable solutions which come up to the customer requirements. This is made possible by the close collaboration with partners in economy, culture and science.
